'Hank Tree EP' is the first release by Hank Tree, the new project led by Fergus MacDonald (previously of the State Broadcasters). The EP will be released on the 22nd of November, digitally and on 10" vinyl, by the Chilean label Uva Robot. It is the result of a process of recording in Santiago de Chile with the guitarist and producer Roy Macdonald (Los Varios Artistas), and in Glasgow with producer Andy Bush (We Were Promised Jetpacks, Twilight Sad, De Rosa).
Inspired by the life and work of artist Marc Chagall, the five songs in 'Hank Tree EP' draw from a diverse sonic pallet. Fragile, picked classical guitar and hushed, impressionistic vocal lines glide above layers of distortion, chiming loops, mournful brass and reverb-drenched percussion.
The EP includes a contribution from Mike Truscott from the Scottish group Kinbrae, while the artwork was created by Estonian artist Tiiu Rebane.
